Course Synopsis: This course is
suitable for investigators intent on learning how
the forensic sciences are used in crime solving, and
specifically what constitutes ballistics and the study
of explosive devices in solving crime. The course
will review the standards established for, and how
ballistic evidence is collected at the crime scene,
stored, transported and analyzed in a crime lab; rifling,
residue, firearms, and other facets constituting ballistic
forensic evidence; what conclusions can be drawn from
such evidence; how police connect ballistic evidence
to a suspect; the roles of the crime lab, forensic
specialist, and the private investigator.
