Course Synopsis: This
course is suitable for investigators intent on learning
how forensic science is used in crime solving, and
specifically what constitutes physical evidence, how
it differs from other types of evidence; what standards
exist and how physical evidence is collected at the
crime scene, stored, transported and analyzed in a
crime lab; defining “chain of custody”; what conclusions
can be drawn from such evidence; how the police use
physical evidence to tie a suspect to a crime; how
physical evidence can help prove that a particular
suspect is guilty of the crime; and the role of the
private investigator.
